Blue Ridge Parkway

Off the Blue Ridge Parkway

The light shifted as we passed through clouds and mist into gorgeous sunlight

We traveled about 100 miles on the Parkway to Boone, NC.  It is a twisty curving road that has plenty of pull-offs for viewing the beauty.

One of the recurring marvels about this trip has been the changing skyscape.  As a city person used to very limited perspectives, this is a constant source of wonder, both day and night.

When on the Parkway stopping to take another picture a bear lumbered across the road.  I was too shocked to remember to lift my camera and take its picture.  The bear just climbed up the side of the mountain.  I don't know how it did it.  It was steep.

Here is the list of animals we have seen so far: wild turkeys, deer, bison, elk, hawks, many different song birds, armadillos (dead unfortunately), gophers, beaver (a little baby one crossing the road quickly), donkeys both full size and miniatures (pictures to come), many goats (pictures to come), 3 hogs (pork chop, bacon and cutlet) and a bear (or so Ilze says).
