We decided to break up our leisurely pace of driving to 300 miles max. We screwed around getting out of Chicago. I suppose we both assumed that one of us knew key information. Sadly, we were wrong and we had to backtrack causing us to loose our patience with each other.
We drove to Effingham about 150 miles from the Land between the lakes in Kentucky. I've been to Effingham before fishing. My memory is of a forgettable town, rather sleepy. It isn't.
Unfortunately we stayed in a Days Inn, but dinner was something to blog about. Ilze noticed the Firefly Grill. The FG is an upscale restaurant, think 2 Chicago stars.
Dinner was Alberta Rye Whiskey, Fried Green Tomatoes with elotes, Beef short rib Bao bun, and shrimp and pesto flat bread. Absolutely delicious and a trigger for us to relax.
